The History of Bastille Day
Bastille Day, celebrated on July 14th, commemorates the storming of the Bastille prison in Paris in 1789, a pivotal event at the beginning of the French Revolution. The Bastille, a symbol of the monarchy's oppressive rule, was stormed by revolutionaries, marking the rise of the people's power against the king. This event led to the fall of King Louis XVI and the establishment of the French Republic. Bastille Day has since become a national holiday in France, symbolizing liberty, equality, and fraternity, with celebrations including parades, fireworks, and parties across the country.
